The True Sustainability Index™ (TSI) is the world’s first context-based ESG (environmental, social and governance) model for assessing the sustainability performance of publicly-traded companies. It is context-based in the sense that it expresses organizational performance relative to norms, standards or thresholds for what performance would have to be in order to be sustainable.
Of additional significance to the TSI is the extent to which it meets the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) call for ‘sustainability context’ in corporate sustainability measurement and reporting as follows (from GRI, G3.1):
The TSI is unique in this regard. Although still in development, it is the only sustainability index in the ESG arena that is context-based, and which therefore expresses the sustainability performance of organizations in a literal or authentic fashion. No other sustainability index does this; and no other sustainability index, therefore, actually reports, much less rates or ranks, the sustainability performance of publicly-traded companies.
